Timeless Leadership Truths From West Point
I recently read an article entitled “Be, Know, Do” that described essential leadership and character building truths taught at West Point. I’ve included a few of those points for people to ponder.
What constitutes a leader?
- There are certain things a leader must BE.
- There are certain things a leader must KNOW.
- There are certain things a leader must DO.
A leader of character is someone who chooses the harder right instead of the easier wrong.
Leaders should have:
- Moral sensitivity
- Moral judgment
- Moral courage
More often than not character is formed not in the heat and confusion of battle but in the quiet moments of reflection after the battle.
