Venezuela, Toilet Paper, and Socialism on Display
Venezuela is a country in crisis. From shortages in basic necessities like toilet paper and milk to government seizures of businesses in the dwindling private sector–Venezuela is an example of socialism in all it’s glory. Venezuela’s decline was hastened by experimentation with “21st-century socialism” that was introduced by the late President Hugo Chavez. Chavez was “a self-described champion of the poor who vowed to distribute the country’s wealth among the masses.” Instead of distributing the country’s wealth, he increased the country’s poverty. Based on growing calls for America to adopt the same failed socialist practices of Europe and other countries, Venezuela’s story should serve as warning to every American.
